Group Home Program
At present, SVCR operates
three group homes. Beechcroft Road group home
serves six adult males. Ridge Road group home serves five adult females.
Fortress Drive group home serves six adult males. There is no
day program associated with these group homes. Consumers are required to have a
day program situation whether it be work or training. The routine funding source
is Virginia's Medicaid Waiver Program. The program is a contract agency of
Northwestern Community Services Board and is licensed by the Virginia Department
of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse Services. Specialized
Supervision is provided by residential staff and includes awake overnight staff.
Supervised Apartments Program
SVCR operates a supervised apartment program in conjunction with the local
ARC (Association of Retarded Citizens). Three apartments are located on Forrest
Drive in Winchester, VA. The ARC owns the properties and SVCR provides the
programming. In addition, a three bedroom house located on Valley Avenue
is rented by SVCR for three consumers use as a supervised apartment.
Current capacity is nine. Consumers are provided with specialized
staff supervision and instruction in independent living skills. There is no day
program associated with this program. Consumers are required to have a day
program arrangement including work, school, or a training program. There is no
staff supervision on the weekends. Average staff supervision per consumer
is between 10 to 15 hours per week.
Supported Living Program
SVCR operates a Supported Living Program as a less restrictive environment
to our supervised apartments. Consumers are assisted in locating their own
apartment or home in the local Winchester area. Staff continue to work on
improving the consumer's independent living skills. There is no staff
supervision on the weekends. Average staff supervision per consumer is between 1
and 5 hours per week.
Associated Support Services
Associated Support Services provided by SVCR Staff include but are not
limited to: transportation to and from appointments and activities, day
support, recreational/leisure activities and
opportunities. In addition, SVCR serves as Representative Payee for consumers as
necessary. These services are provided Monday through Friday from 9 AM to
5 PM.
